ABOUT

CINEMATRIARCHY is a film blog run by sangha. The title of the blog comes from cinema+matriarchy, as I particularly enjoy looking at themes of gender and power in visual media. I use an excessive amount of brackets. The ratings on this blog are all based on a 5-star system.

I am in no way an expert on anything - in fact I've only ever dabbled in things but never really got deep enough to call myself an expert on anything. With that being said, this will be a film blog but everything I know about movies comes from movies I've watched, the 4.5 film classes I took in college (0.5 because I dropped one halfway through oops), and through reading some textbooks.

I will be slowly filling this space with short movie reviews, longer movie reviews, TV show reviews, and so forth. I am terrible with keeping up with current movies, so most of the time I will be months (or years) behind the release dates. I also watch a lot of Korean movies. Most of that will be discussed over at my main Korean pop culture blog, Strange Seasons simultaneously.

Thanks for dropping by.
